Howdy

Thanks for stopping by.

Simply put, ChickenFriedWisdom.com is a place to be inspired. Period. If you’re not into words you can stop reading right now but if you’re one of those detail people, here’s the rest of the story…

Over the years I’ve had the pleasure to serve, in various capacities, countless incredible folks who are choosing to play a bigger game in life. Some are in the process of creating something new and fulfilling while others woke up one day and decided that “good enough” just wasn’t anymore. If you’re one of those people – and you know who you are – here’s a secret: you have inspired me more than you’ll ever know.

And that’s why I created this place – a home and a community – for us to gather. I hunger to be part of “something” that moves us all forward. (Sometimes I also hunger for chicken fried steak but that’s a different conversation.)

I am an unapologetic fan of the book “Start With Why” by Simon Sinek. One distinction in that book that has stuck with me – actually it’s more than stuck with me, it’s become more of a personal compass – is the difference between manipulation and inspiration. Let’s face it, both drive human behavior but only one is sustainable. Inspiration.

So with a simple, rudimentary place like ChickenFriedWisdom.com (it’s kind of like a discarded couch you picked up on the side of the road … it’s not much to look at but it sure is comfortable) we stand in the face of resignation, cynicism and manipulation and choose to be inspired so that we, in turn, can inspire others. We’ll do it together … one conversation at time.

Listen, this world is full of folks sitting in the stands and watching the game of life play out before them. We are on the field playing to win. (Remind me to tell you sometime about how my mother-in-law wound up all alone in the middle of a football field in front of a packed stadium. It’s a doozy.)

So, to summarize:

1. Inspiration = good. Manipulation = bad.

2. WE ARE NOT BLEACHER PEOPLE.

3. And always, always remember: EVERYTHING tastes better when it’s Chicken Fried.

Let Inspiration Reign!

JJ – Serving others through love and respect SO THAT they may love and respect others.

PS – Please hold me accountable to this. I believe you will.

PSS – If you don’t know your Why, let me know. I can help.

Carolina Kate, I’m honored to being running shoulder-to-shoulder with you on this journey. Thank you.

As for the “story” about my mother-in-law, no one tells it better than Lori. I’ll have her share it on one of the upcoming Roundup Calls. Appreciate you, Catharine. JJ

I may not get you a shout out but Lord willing, I plan to be on the line. Keep the words of wisdom and encouragement coming … the world needs a positive voice.

Special conversation about your Dad! Mine was too. From 49er to Southern Nazarene. Leadership is quiet and consistent. I’m sure Bartlesville misses you. Well done.

    Hi JJ,

Another great call today – just like always! On the topic of how no one can take away our power over how we choose to look at any situation, there are times when it is helpful to be reminded that WE are indeed the ones who hold both this ability along with the responsibility to use our power! Your leadership style brings both a daily reminder of this with your “Chicken Fried Wisdom Recipe” to help us help ourselves in keeping our minds “well nourished” on a daily basis — THANK YOU FOR BEING THE LEADER YOU ARE!!!

    God Bless,
    Catharine

It was a privilege, and an honor to experience the love and empowerment you extended to your daughter, Riley Grace this morning. Too bad that special moment in time cannot be bottled, because there are many that could certainly use at least one dose!

Wishing Riley well on her new journey, and asking God to watch over her every step of the way.

JJ, thanks for always sharing from the heart.
